| Introduction | For the entirety of my dance and teaching career, i have heard people profess; "they are an extraordinary dancer", " they are an exceptional teacher" or "that is an astonishing piece of choreography". Why are these statements true or are they true? What truly makes an outstanding dancer, teacher or choreographic piece, is it the structure, the technique of the performers, the lighting, the music, choreography, the message being portrayed or the culmination of all these above mentioned elements. Perhaps it is the perception of the viewers personal beliefs and views , which is transferred into forming an opinion of that which is being viewed. If i'm truly honest, i have always based my opinion of whether a dancer, teacher or choreographic piece is extraordinary, by the way my experience has made me feel. Have i been moved in some or other way? |
