Introduction I'm a music educator who has lived in Alaska since early 1973. I came to Alaska to escape from Seattle, serious music, radio work and urban life. Since coming to Alaska, I've fished commercially, worked as a blue-water mariner, worked for 13 years in various aspects of public safety, helped expand the Whittier Boat Harbor, helped start the Prince William Aquaculture Corporation, helped start the first search-and-rescue volunteer unit on PWS, run the biggest halfway house in Alaska, and done thousands of hours of community service. I've coached little league and youth soccer, was an assistant cub and boy scout leader, and volunteered helping kids in other ways. I've taught at three campuses of UAA since early 1995. I directed Alaska's most active community band for 13 years. I'm a serious environmentalist, address social and economic inequality issues in my activities, and in my art, and have been called "Alaska's most notorious composer" far more than once. My web site links to some of those musical efforts. My wife and I live in a little house on Neklason Lake, WNW of Palmer. We're avid gardeners. She's an avid hiker and skier. I go along some of the time too.
Interests fine arts, progressive politics, human rights progress, gardening, fishing, hiking
