| Introduction | My husband and I are 9 to 5'vers who live on 2-1/2 acres in rural Southern California (yes, there is a rural southern CA). In addition to working 9-5, we also raise and sell pet birds. We have several chickens, a large garden, lots of fruit trees and a whole mess of very spoiled dogs (the kids). It's my dream to turn our property into a self-sustaining homestead. I salivate over ideas like solar panels, solar ovens, raising our own food, baking, canning, sewing, soap making and all things self-sufficient. I'm currently doing a lot of research on these topics. I love to read the blogs of those living or moving towards a greener, more self-sustaining life-style. They are my inspiration. I hope to be able to create my own blog soon that is just as interesting and informative. |
