My blogs
| Introduction | Good day, all! Thanks for visiting! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a grade 7 and grade 8 Language Arts teacher at Narragansett Pier Middle School in Narragansett, Rhode Island. I have been teaching in this district for 16 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In addition to teaching, I also coach the girls' basketball team, which has made it to the State Championship game twice in four years! Last year, I took a course about using blogs and wikis to improve literacy, which is why I have begun this blog. In the 2009-2010 school year, I plan to apply what I learned into my classroom practices. Let the adventure begin! |

| Favorite movies | I love movies that I can watch and watch and watch and watch! Although I enjoy a solid drama - anything starring Denzel works - I also must admit that silly punny movies amuse me; how can you go wrong when movies, such as Airplane and Tommy Boy, exist? I am also hooked on those movies that constantly appear on TNT and TBS - I watch The American President, I Am Sam, and Steel Magnolias every time they are aired! |
| Favorite music | My favorite music? Hmmm, depends on the day. I listen to absolutely everything: it's Neil Diamond when I clean my house, Linkin Park and Staind when I'm in a bad mood, Brooks and Dunn and Sundown when I'm going line dancing, or Diddy and Nelly when I'm on a road trip. (And I must admit that I've grooved to a boy band or two, especially since I grew up with NKOTB and New Edition, and I once worked security for an NSYNC concert!) |
| Favorite books | I have to return to my childhood for the ultimate favs: Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and any book written by Richard Scarrey. The Kite Runner, A Separate Peace, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, and A Tale of Two Cities are among my favorites as well. I'm a fan of Scott Turow and John Grisholm, and I have the just-about-complete collection of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Most recently, I have become obsessed with the Twilight series...along with everyone else in the world! |
