Introduction The Glorificamus Society seeks to answer the call of His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI (both as Pope and cardinal) for a return to a greater sense of reverence, mystery, beauty and sacredness in the celebration of Holy Mass. In the Ordinary/Modern Form of the one Roman Rite (the Novus Ordo), we implement the Church’s teaching about Latin, Gregorian chant and “ad orientem” posture, promoting the celebration of the Catholic Mass in a way that more closely follows the teachings of the Second Vatican Council in its document Sacrosanctum Concilium. We also promote the celebration of the Extraordinary/Classical Form of the one Roman Rite (often called the “Tridentine” or “Traditional Latin Mass”), of which Pope Benedict has said: “what earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too…It behoves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and to give them their proper place.” On 7 July 2007, Pope Benedict XVI released his Apostolic Letter and Motu Proprio liberalising the Classical Roman Rite of the Sacraments in accordance with the Roman Missal of 1962, the so called Missal of Saint John XXIII.
