| Introduction | Hi! I have an MLS and have worked as a professional Youth Services Librarian for over 10 years now. I had a wonderful start with Phoenix at a Library Assistant and realized then my passion and excitement about early literacy (birth - 5) and programming that would incorporate skills and practices that caregivers can use to create for their children the building blocks to reading. Of course storytimes are fun and mine include lots of opportunity for interaction with books through puppets, flannel pieces, and props. Children stay engaged through kinesthetic learning with the use of music, manipulatives (items they can hold), fingerplays, and rhymes that involve moving the whole body. As fun as it all is, every little aspect relates to early literacy (what children know about reading and writing before they can read and write). I truly believe in the value of my career and what I do and even though it takes a lot of hard work to make it all seem easy and fun, every minute is worth it! That is why I am starting my own business called Fox & Bear Early Literacy Programming, LLC. https://www.foxandbearelp.com/ |
