| Introduction | Well! I was born and raised in Nepal, a country which is renowned for the world’s tallest mountain and is the birth place of Buddha. However, at this stage, it is also well known as a country which has been in its worst stages of war for more than 10 years. I have seen the impact of conflict closely and faced the consequences personally. I have heard stories of how much other people had to suffer as I did. 13 years ago was a brutal war between a group of citizens and the government over equality and rights and the present hurdle is the permanent establishment of peace. While the war with guns has ended, peace is still a distant star. The people have been divided into various ethnic, religious and geographical groups. Everyone wants his/her piece but few are willing to share. With these experiences I became interested in helping people to help themselves to have a better life. I completed a Bachelors degree in Social Work in 2011 from Kadambari M. College in Nepal. I decided to get more experience before I work at the root level, so I came to the Corrymeela community in Northern Ireland as a one year volunteer which works for Peace and Reconciliation. |
