| Introduction | Kevin Scott Edwards is a military veteran and mental health consumer who was diagnosed with a co-occurring disorder in 1994. Over the past 15 years Kevin has utilized rehabilitation programs and community outreach organizations to secure a recovery lifestyle that focuses on pro advocacy. Kevin has served as an active member of NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health), Bazelon Center, Goodwill Industries, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), FACES And VOICES of RECOVERY and is the founder and former Co-Chairperson for the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital Veterans Advocacy Council. Kevin's volunteer work began with the Salvation Army’s Borden Avenue Veterans Residence in Long Island City, NY when he became homeless for the first time. He still continues to work with Catholic Charities Food Pantries, Citiview Connections Clubhouse in New York City, Hillsborough County Homeless Coalition,DCF's Recovery and Resilliency Taskforce and a number of grass roots organizations doing homeless outreach and jail diversion.
