IntroductionAfter years of fertility treatments, multiple surgeries, ovarian failure, and a hysterectomy Brent & I decided to expand our family through adoption. My career has been varied. Prior to Zoe's birth, I worked in L&D, oncology, staff development and academe. I have a BS in Nursing from Clemson and a MS in Nursing Ed from TWU. After Zoe's birth in 09, I found it ever so difficult to return to work! I left TWU to stay at home for Zoe's first year of life, but being someone who has always worked, I felt the need to try to go back to work (& school). I briefly took a job at TX Children's Hospital and began my PhD in Nursing Disaster & Emergency Management at the U of TN. After struggling with the pressures of full-time employment and school, I decided to throw it all in to stay at home. As of September of 2010, I have quit my PhD program and am no longer working full-time. Staying at home full-time has proven to be a new challenge for me. After 10 years of being career-minded, staying at home has been an adjustment. I've learned that being a stay-at-home Mom is a full-time job that is much more labor intensive and challenging than any of the jobs I've had before.
