| Introduction | I grew up in the Philippines where my parents served as missionaries. Their work among the most neglected of peoples inspired in me a real passion to make a difference in the world. I spent the first 15 years or so of my career as a professor, taking students on cultural immersion experiences in Asia and elsewhere. Now I work in cross-cultural and global ministry myself with a group that is committed to working with the poorest of the poor. |
