OccupationSurprisingly still at home, working harder than I ever have
LocationDenver, CO
IntroductionI have two young boys, 20 months apart. 2009 was the hardest year of my life. I have never loved anyone as much as I love my boys but I have never been in such a relentless position before either. No coffee breaks, labor day weekends, or sick days anymore. I'm not home forever, I swear. While I am, I try to enjoy the picnics, trips to the zoo, lazing around in our pjs all day, and general silliness that kids let you tap into. How I ended up as a stay at home mom, 6 short months after getting my graduate degree, is an uninteresting story of a combined lack of effort on one hand and bad economy as excuse on the other. These boys got my heart and I have a hard time imagining leaving them daily. But, there is a time during each day when I wish I could so we'll see which side wins and when. There are no easy decisions anymore. My husband is a true hero. He delivered our youngest in the bathtub of our small home. He lets me sleep in on Saturdays while he runs to get our favorite breakfast burrito. He gets up in the night to sooth our little one and take our older one to the potty. He rubs my back when he is tired and cooks for me when I am tired. He doesn't complain.
InterestsOnce upon a time I loved to ski, read, write, hike, bike, camp, backpack, and geek out on flowers and birds. I'd hit the occasional thrift store, eat sushi, and polish off a bottle of wine with my husband. Now, I hardly have enough energy at the end of the day to find the remote and crash onto the couch until it's time to sleep.
