| Introduction | I am a New Zealand lawyer and ex-public servant based in Washington DC. By day, I work for an academic institution of fine repute. By night, I pore over the absurdities of American political life. My scholastic credentials include postgraduate degrees from France and the US in international politics and law. In my view, the best thing about New Zealand is the mince and cheese pie. For some reason, no matter how hard the United States tries, it simply cannot understand how mince, gravy, cheese and pastry all fit together. That's it.
