| Introduction | 10 years ago I found out I had Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) a bone marrow failure disease (often referred to as smoldering leukemia). Over the past ten years, I have been through an incredible journey filled with sadness, joy, anger, and absolute happiness. In 2007 I became transfusion dependent and participated in a National Institues of Health clinical trial for a MDS vaccine. In early 2008 I started taking a chemo pill called Revlimid and my anemia steadily improved for almost 2 years! Amazing! The time I was able to spend with my family and friends was a Godsend and my sustained energy level kept me active and effective at work! In October of 2010, my MDS, unfortunately transitioned to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This blog will give my family and friends away to track my progress (bitter with the sweet, as one coworker put it) and educate others on how we can all fight this disease! Thank you for visiting! |
