Introduction | I will be starting my fifth year as a mathematics teacher in the South Bronx with the New York City Department of Education! I immigrated to New York from China in elementary school. In spring of 2011, I graduated from New York University with a degree in Math Education and a minor in Spanish. In spring 2014, I graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a M.Ed in Curriculum & Teaching. It has always been my passion to teach in the inner city and my passion was reconfirmed this year after finishing my very successful first four years of teaching. Growing up in New York, I saw the desperate need of students like mine to get access to high quality teachers. I picked the title "We're New York's Brightest" because that was the message I saw soooo often when I was a senior in college applying for a job in the City's schools. I hope to show the challenges and the rewards of teaching in New York City through my blog. To all the NYC teachers out there, WE ARE NEW YORK'S BRIGHTEST! :) Never give up! |
