The artists are creating images of superheroes, but they are not superheroes. The writers are spinning fantastic tales, while they live in the ordinary world. So now we have the Peter Pan theory. If you work in comics, you inherit a sort of immunity. You have to be a enough of a grown-up to pay the bills, but there’s also a built-in excuse to hang onto some kid stuff. If you’re doing a slice of life indy book, you are god to the hippest characters ever. For superhero books, you get to imagine various superpowers such as the ability to fight crime while wearing a latex bikini. Surely there is no better way to spend the day. Most definitely, it must be blissful. **** Periscope is home to a myriad of comics folk. They are indy superheroes, sci-fi historians. They are actual people. They work and play, laugh and dream. They entertain. They never saw me coming.
