Introduction | I am a child of God. I live into that blessing by practicing life as a husband to a brilliant and lovely bride, a father to a life-giving little girl, a brother, a son. I am a pastor of the Presbyterian bent, a local man rooted in a particularity of place - that being Owensboro, Western Kentucky, the Ohio River, Downtown, next door, right here, which is not that far from you. As a pastor, I am a listener, a proclaimer, and a pray-er. This is what I do. And more. For instance, I read, slowly but surely. I attend to the minutiae of my life and the lives of others. God is in the midst of the mundane, bringing beauty out of banalities, goodness from grief, and it is my work simply to point to such graces and to relieve the tightness in their chests. I care deeply about authenticity, compassion, unmasking the idolatries, and holding the world before God in honest lament and longing. I am an aching visionary, seeing what is yet what shouldn't be, what is not yet but what almost is. I hope out loud for a community of committed, curious, generous folk to experience something of the joy that is life along the way of Jesus. This is the land of my life: the country of ministry. |
