Introduction | Mr. Heeren has six book titles to his credit: The Basketball Abstract series (Prentice Hall/Simon & Schuster) and The Sign of His Coming (Creation House). As a young journalist he established a format for the religion page of the Fort Lauderdale News & Sun-Sentinel, becoming the newspaper's first religion editor. He has written articles for Christianity Today and other Christian periodicals. He has written Sunday School lessons published by David C. Cook publishers. He has won thirteen state and national writing awards. He was raised Lutheran and married a born-again Catholic, the former Joan Marie Connors of Cincinnati. They have two children. For twelve years (1995-2007) the Heerens were members of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, a Fort Lauderdale church pastored by evangelist/activist D.
