IntroductionA Blog For All and None. Consider it my narrative history of ideas. A place primarily to share and obtain feedback to my thoughts through my graduate career in philosophy. For philosophy is simply "thoughts that have been thought out."
InterestsMy philosophical interests include primarily Philosophical Anthropology and Ethics with a dominant propensity toward these themes in the early German Phenomenology of Max Scheler (which has correspondingly sparked my interest in Kantian Ethics), and in the the later French Phenomenology of Paul Ricoeur (his 'Hermeneutics of the Self') and Emmanuel Levinas (his 'Phenomenology of the Other"). I would love to make some effort in bringing the philosophy of Scheler out of the dark and into the Continental light--in the light of the these latter two very significant, nearly contemporary, French thinkers.
Favorite booksOf Scheler's: Formalism, Nature of Sympathy, Ressentiment, Ordo Amoris; of Ricoeur's: History and Truth, his Philosphy of the Will, Oneself As Another; of Levinas: the classics--Totality and Infinity, Otherwise Than Being; others: Plato's Phaedo, Apology, and Phaedrus, Augustine's Confessions, Erasmus' Praise of Folly, Thomas More's Utopia, Cassirer's An Essay on Man, Heidegger's Being and Time, Merlou-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception, De Lubac's Mystery of the Supernatural.
