Introduction	My name is Jessica, and I am a senior at California State University – Sacramento. I have an A.S. degree in law enforcement, an A.S. degree in corrections, and will be receiving my B.S. in criminal justice in May. While I am excited to be graduating, my excitement has been halted as the state has frozen several departments from hiring. Looking for a job after graduation has become very similar to finding a needle in a haystack. I wanted to become a correctional officer, but Schwarzenegger put a freeze on hiring correctional officers indefinitely as of July 2008. Since I will be unable to work in a prison, I have decided to research and document current prison issues. It is my hope that this blog will further my knowledge of our prison system, and will prepare me for when the hiring freeze has melted! It should also be a concern for other people, as Governor Schwarzenegger hopes to release 10,000 inmates in the near future.
