| Introduction | Running and Wildlife go together quite well but first about wildlife.There were always plenty of fields and wildlife around my home as I grew up. Over the years I have seen the growth of urban sprawl and the decline of wildlife. Recently my interest in wildlife and the environment was stimulated as I completed an Open University degree course in Human Geography and the Environment. In 2005 I joined a small group of like minded people to start a Local Group of the Somerset Wildlife Trust. We are now in our 7th year and making good progress.The Trust is facing big challenges in its efforts to "protect wildlife for the future". In 2005 I also became a member of Langport Runners and more recently joined the Club Facebook page which has proved popular with members and is a forum which shows how running can cover such a wide range of abilities and challenges and I must add, all ages! Runners also get to see a large area of our beautifull county. |
