IntroductionI am a 49 year old woman who has been schizoaffective since the age of 19. I do not hear voices or hallucinate. I want to work. The most sophisticated and challenging way to use my mind is to make art. I work on art during the precious hours of clear mental concentration I have in the morning. Because of my illness, I had to stop art school after one semester. So I consider myself self-taught. If you want to see a gallery of my latest art visit my website at karenmaysorensen.com.

When you spilled the milk, did it look like the moon?

A very long time ago, I once thought that the world could get rid of all its nuclear weapons if every country with missiles would target the moon, launch into space, and blow the moon up. I was very sad that the moon had to be sacrificed for the world to be a safer place.
