| Introduction | Kate is a nurse and James is a software developer. We are from Ontario, Canada and went to high school together! We have always dreamed of buying a boat and travelling. We watched documentaries and read books about sailing adventures and were amazed. In June 2014, we felt ready to leave Halifax, NS. We moved there for James' Masters and had a 5 year plan. Sure enough 5 years later we had itchy feet. We both remember the moment we decided to make buying a boat and going sailing our goal. We were out for lunch and on the way home we were discussing "what's next"? We had toyed with the idea of a year in England where Kate has family and we could explore Europe but it just didn't feel right. James said: We've dreamed of buying a boat and going traveling? Why don't we just do it? Kate: Can we? James: Why not? That was all it took. We spent the next 14 months planning and working! We finished renovating our home, worked 2 jobs, sold everything we owned and read everything we could to prepare. We took courses and looked for "the boat". We kept it all quiet, only revealing our plan once we knew we could make it reality. We haven't looked back and can't wait for all that is to come! |
