| Introduction | Bacons for a Cause officially started in 2009 when I decided to share our crazy adventures of working and raising a family while also training and fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. However, our journey dates back to 1994, when Allie, our niece at the age of 7 months was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). She underwent 2.5 years of treatment and won her cancer battle! Allie first became an honored hero for LLS' Team in Training endurance program in 1996. My first event was America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Lake Tahoe in June 2000. About 4 months after Tahoe I met my husband, Will. Will quickly got involved with TNT and in 2004 completed the Solvang Century. After several years and two beautiful children we came back to TNT in 2009 to celebrate Allie’s 15th year in remission with Allie joining the TEAM. The 3 of us ran the White Rock Relay with Allie running the final 6.2 miles to cross the finish line. Making her an official TNT alumni. Since that season we haven't stopped and have gone full force...we have continued our passion for finding a cure while helping others fight their battle! |
