| Introduction | This is the story of a little girl who had a million odds stacked up against her before she was even born. Madeline debuted as our Christmas Eve gift and came with such a force that the overhead lights in the delivery room blew out. The OB said he'd never seen such a thing. She was born with a brain malformation defined as: hypoplasia of the vermis, hypoplasia of the corpus collosum and hypoplasia of the brain stem. She also had some congential issues at birth for which so far, there has been no definitive diagnosis for. At our 18-week routine ultrasound, we were told we would probably be having a baby with Dandy Walker Syndrome and given the choice to terminate the pregnancy. We laughed in their faces. Genetics doctors do believe that she has a genetic condition but have since determined that it is not classic Dandy Walker. She has beaten many odds and surprises every doctor she visits. When are they going to learn that God has the final say? |
