About me

Location Sydney, NSW, Australia
Introduction I have been taking family and travel photos for over 30 years and in the last few years photography has become more of a creative hobby. Initially the focus was on simplicity – trying to capture the essence of a scene or object, but more recently I have become fascinated with using multiple exposures to achieve a richer picture by amplifying textures, colours and the symbolic aspects of scenes. A few years ago I discovered that my small Panasonic Lumix LX3 digital camera could take multiple exposure – and since then I have been on a journey exploring the possibilities of layering pictures. I live next to Botany Bay National Park and this provides the bush, leaves, flowers, beach, weather and headland scenes which appear in much of my current work. Leaves from gum trees are a particular fascination. New leaves have bright greens and pinks but many old fallen leaves contain a rainbow of bright colours when held up to sunlight. The brilliance and variety of colour that can appear in objects from the bush floor is magically surprising.
