IntroductionAlbert DeGenova is an award-winning poet, editor, teacher, and blues saxophonist. He is the author of three books of poetry: Black Pearl poems of love, sex and regret (Purple Flag Press); The Blueing Hours (2008, Virtual Artists Collective) and Back Beat (2006, Fractal Edge Press, 2nd edition); and three chapbooks, A Tender Spot (1992, BlueBari Press), Postcards to Jack (2010, Naked Mannekin), and A Good Hammer (2014, a limited edition hand-made letterpress imprint from Timberline Press). From 1978-1980 he was an editor of the Oyez Review (published by Roosevelt University); in June of 2000 he launched the literary/arts journal After Hours, for which he continues as publisher and editor. DeGenova performed with the poetry duo AvantRetro throughout the Midwest and greater Chicago area. DeGenova received his MFA in Writing from Spalding University, Louisville. He teaches at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, and now leads the annual Writer's Workshop at The Clearing Folk School in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin, (formerly the Norbert Blei Writing Workshop).
