| Introduction | I'm a 20-something social worker and recovering English major. :-) As much as I love the current form my life as taken as a clinical social worker, I do miss the more creative moments of life as a student. I'm trying to reconnect with my identity as a critical reader and creative writer, and hope this blog gives me the opportunity to integrate that with my current life! The title of the blog is taken from the Gwendolyn Brooks poem "Jane Addams," a perfect example of mixing social justice with creative writing. It's also the sentiment I'm looking for... my creative world just might continue, despite the demands of my everyday "grownup" existence! |
| Interests | Social work, reading and writing poetry and fiction (attempting at least!), yoga, learning to meditate, cooking, singing, trivia, spending time with my husband, my friends |
| Favorite movies | Moulin Rouge, Spy Game, Zoolander, Inception, Shrek, Bowling for Columbine... I'm all over the map! |
| Favorite music | Anything and everything, from hip hop/rap to classical. |
| Favorite books | TOO many to list! That's what the blog is about, after all, right? Perennial faves include... The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseni, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, Testimony by Anita Shreve. Favorite poets: Elizabeth Bishop, Gwendolyn Brooks, Slyvia Plath, Gary Soto |
