Introduction Inside nature there is an extreme amount of change. Life is constantly changing, dying and being reborn. Rivers are unceasingly carving away at their banks only to transform them into beautiful canyons. Years of rain, snow, and ice turn mountains in to hills. Tectonic plates and earthquakes turn valleys into mountains. Yet, through all of these transformations nothing is ever lost; each change beckons new discoveries. Natures little secret is out. The key to nature’s infinite lossless transformations is organized chaos. At any given time all of the stones in a creek bed are in just the right place, all of the trees and shrubs on a mountain side are perfectly arranged; all of nature’s beauty stems from organized chaos. In my work I have taken this tip from nature and through line, drip, splatter, and shape, create abstract landscapes full of change and transformation where one can lose themselves to discovery. With the ordered chaos of nature as a guide I am able to find true balance and proportions to allow me to combine my elements to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
