About me

Location Gaydon, Warwickshire, United Kingdom
Introduction Hello, my name is Roger Gollicker and I've been a volunteer at the British Motor Museum, since July 2010, when the Heritage Motor Centre, as it was called until recently, launched its volunteer programme. Having worked for Shell for 27 years, 7 of which were spent in their UK motorsport unit, cars and bikes had already become a big part of my life. Now retired, this interest can be further enjoyed and shared with the likeminded volunteers on all the many activities we get involved in. My skills are not of much use on the technical or restoration side, so, most of my volunteering time has been spent assisting the data team, attending events and in particular writing the volunteers blog. It's always been my intention to try and write one blog a month and cover what we get up to at the museum. Having made this commitment, I thought it might be something I'd regret, but so far it's turned out to be the most enjoyable bit of my volunteering time. The blog has also become a diary and record of what the volunteers have achieved. The opening of the Collections Centre will add a new string to my bow as a tour guide, which will surely provide a lot of interesting future stories for the blog.
