About me

Location New Zealand
Introduction ❤ - mountains - wood pigeons - boysenberry jam - transcendentalism - colour - frost - super-super-close-ups - learning - starry skies - solitude - rambling!
Interests The consistency of chocolate, the reflections of streetlights on a rainy night, grasshoppers, the perfect whisk, immaculately decorated timetables, attempting to juggle, scenes of abandoned castles or towers or houses or vast, storm-covered mountains, deliberately conflicting with blogger formatting, nitpicking other people's grammar and spelling, laughing with my sister at things only the two of us find funny, taking pictures of leaves and raindrops, sprawling out on my wonderfully big bed, trying not to be a zombie on the way to a Monday morning breakfast shift, creating exorbitantly long lists, making up words, listening to opera and folk music and rock and piano solos and new age and country and bubblegum pop and power ballads, watching movies at 2am, reading on the bus, being an owl, drowning myself in densely-worded old-fashioned sentimental prose, throwing jellybeans at people, knitting a lop-sided scarf, trying to imagine just how small we all really are, crying at Disney movies, listening to trees, fetching hot milk or hot sauce for tourists, woefully mangling French, mashing potatoes, people-watching, gazing out library windows
Favorite Movies Joyeux Noel, Beauty and the Beast, Brokeback Mountain, The Lord of the Rings
Favorite Music Gordon Lightfoot, Runrig, Francis Cabrel, Jesse Cook, Ludovico Einaudi, Iron & Wine, John Hiatt
Favorite Books Hymn to the Night, The Silmarillion, The Lonely Planet Guide to the Middle of Nowhere, Jane Eyre

What would you wear for camouflage if you were hiding in a gingerbread house?

Why do I need camouflage? And why does it have to be a gingerbread house? Surely a Tim-tam house, a Macaroon house, or a hokey-pokey Squiggle house? (If you're not a Kiwi, you won't have recognised those biscuits and that's truly a tragedy. I tell you, in chocolate biscuits and ice-cream, New Zealand's got the world beat.)
