| Introduction | When charged with possession of an illegal substance or arrested for a DUI the latest celebrity trend is to enter a rehabilitation center. But for the codependent, the one that loved and enabled the addict, there is no safe hiding place. With our dignity stripped away and the family secret revealed, we think we have to deal with the self-blame and shame alone. We are part of a large number of people searching for answers to our obsessive enabling. In a search for answers to my compulsive care giving, I pursued certification for addiction counselor.
