| Introduction | Nardi Routten is a third grade teacher at Creekside Elementary School in New Bern North Carolina. This 2025-2026 marks her 28th year of teaching. During the last 27 years, 5 years have been spent in third grade and the remaining 21 years were in fourth grade. She was blessed and honored to receive the Milken Educator Award on January 9th 2015. She was also appointed to the National Assessment Governing Board in 2019 for her first term and 2022 for her second term. She was also named a 2022 North Carolina State finalist for the Presidential Award in Math and Science Teaching (in Math) and was actually named the NC Awardee in January 2025. Nardi was named Craven County's Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024. Finally, December 11, 2024, Nardi was named North Carolina Southeast Region Teacher of the year! The highlight of her 2023-2024 school year was when she rode Top Gun in the back seat of an F18 with Blue Angel #7! Nardi authored an opinion articles for Education Week, Edutopia, and EdNC! |
