Occupation Technical Writer

Introduction I am a lucky father of three great kids. None of them are exactly like me. So I have done something right as a parent. My son once told me he wanted to grow to be the man that I am. Most dads hear that from their sons when they are young. But mine told me that when he was in his early twenties. It was the most humbling and wonderful thing a man could hear. I have tried to live up to that responsibility every day. I often do not succeed, but I always try. I have spent a great deal of my life outdoors and I hope to always do so. I've always felt at home in our natural world and have always felt drawn to wild places. The wilderness is a sanctuary and healing place for me. I never feel more alive than when I'm outdoors and pushing myself physically and mentally. I always tell my youngest, "If you didn't get hurt, you weren't having fun." She's starting to understand her dad isn't crazy. At least not totally. And weirdest and most wonderful of all, she actually likes most of my music.
Interests Hiking, birding, kayaking, writing, music, dragonflies, my kids, peakbagging, keeping fit, good beer. Just not necessarily in that order.
