Introduction It's time to share more about my mom. She's a great woman and a great mother--never perfect, but she's always tried and gave my brother and I a good upbringing. December of 2014 we noticed her eyes beginning to yellow. In the following months we watched her eyes and skin continue to yellow, and her strength lessened. In March of 2015 we received a diagnosis: liver disease. I never knew exactly how critical the liver was until my mother's began to fail. her health is very quickly diminishing. Her life is hanging in the balance right now; WE NEED A LIVER DONOR. The donor system is complex; doctors are saying that, with no guarantee of a cadaver donor appearing on time, my mother's best shot is with a living donor. We are desperate. The liver has two lobes, approximately a 40/60 split. The donor will give 60% of their liver to the recipient, and with 6-8 weeks of recovery, each piece will regenerate fully. It is an incredible, important organ. We need someone with type O blood to PLEASE donate and save my mom's life. The donor must also be under 60 and in good health. If you feel any pull to be our family's saving grace, call the Yale-New Haven transplant line at 866-925-3897.
