IntroductionMarried in June 1976, Joyce and Al have two young adult children, Christopher, and Valerie, who both live a day’s drive from their hometown, Greenwood, Indiana. Joyce graduated from Ball State University in 1976, BA in English and journalism, and in 1980 received a MS in secondary education from Indiana University [IUPUI-Indianapolis]. She has taught 8th grade language arts in the public schools, undergraduate writing for IUPUI, and served as marketing coordinator for Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. In 2009 CrossLink Publishing released her book, Real Mothers: A Bible Study about Mothers for Mothers. Her articles have appeared in Standard Publishing’s The Lookout and Chicken Soup for the Soul Celebrating Mothers and Daughters [2007]. Their cat Bevo, a gray long-haired co-contributor usually perched on her forearm purring, assists in daily e-mail, article edits, and blog updates at jcwriters.blogspot.com and www.joycelong.com. Joyce enjoys knitting, daily 6 am walks, reading mysteries, studying the Bible, and writing. Her husband Al and she like to vacation on any beach with a good supply of paperbacks.
