| Introduction | Kevin Patrick is an independent academic researcher in media and communication studies. A former freelance journalist, communications policy researcher, magazine editor and comic-book publisher, he received his doctorate of philosophy (PhD) from Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) in 2014. He has a longstanding interest in Australian comics and curated the exhibition, Heroes and Villains: Australian Comics and their Creators, which was held at the State Library of Victoria (Melbourne, Australia) in 2006-2007. His work has been published in numerous peer-review journals, including Media International Australia (AUS), International Journal of Comic Art (US), Participations (UK), War, and The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture (UK). |
