| Introduction | While I would rather be writing stories about spaceships, ray guns, and desperate battles against guys with 1)multiple 2)green 3)x-ray-equipped heads, I spend a lot of my time documenting cases in Protestant (Fundamentalist) churches of clergy abuse against children. This calling of mine invites abusive language from some readers, as well as scores of accusations against my character. That cannot be helped. The presence of outright sex abuse in churches that claim to follow Jesus Christ is shameful, and it is unchecked in the most conservative religious circles in America. Our churches need greater accountability among ministers, greater transparency in these matters, and open church court proceedings to investigate allegations of abuse. |
