| Introduction | Arthur Scheuerman retired as a battalion chief from the Fire Department of New York. He ascended to increasingly responsible positions in all ranks in every borough, and managed firefighting operations in high-rise buildings; shipyards; industrial, chemical, and fuel facilities; power-generating plants; places of assembly. He spent a number of years as a firefighter in the busiest engine company in the Bronx - Engine 82. As a New York City High-Rise, Fire Safety Director, Scheuerman used his in-depth knowledge of fire behavior as it relates to building configuration and population densities to ensure life safety in various high-rise office buildings in emergencies.In addition, he was Fire Safety Director for St. Lukes Hospital, a 16-building, high-rise hospital and office complex in Manhattan. Ever striving to improve life safety features in the city’s structures, especially high-rise buildings He served as a consultant on High Rise Safety and Code Development to the Fire Department of New York. |
