| Introduction | I grew up in Louisiana. In 1969, I joined the Teen-Age Republicans. When I joined, Louisiana only had 36,000 register Republicans. Many told me I was joining a loosing cause. For years, I would campaign for Republicans on the local, state and national levels. I did this as Teen-Age Republican, College Republican and Young Republican. In 1975, I was awarded "The Most Outstanding TAR " in the state of Louisiana. My senior trip that year was going to Washington, DC where I met great leaders like President Ford, Senators Goldwater, Brock, Baker, Thurmond and others. I went to college at USL (now ULL) in Lafayette, La. I was the head of the College Republicans there several times. I got married in 1983 and became a father in 1991. We moved to Houston in 1992. Looking back on all the hard work I had done in Louisiana, I knew one day we would have an effective two party system. |
