| Introduction | The idea to venture up this way has been on our minds for a while. When the opportunity came up, it was quite an exciting and swift process for both my girlfriend and myself when I accepted a job teaching at the high school here in Kugluktuk. I was already teaching a grade 6 class back in my hometown of Whitby, Ontario. It was only a temporary position, but a job nonetheless. I was sad to leave my school so soon in the school year. Especially because of the connections that I had made with the staff and students there, not to mention it was my first time actually starting off a school year. Now that we are here, we'd like to share the experience and let a few people in on what it's like to live amongst the Inuit. This is a rough statistic, but less than 0.6% of the people in Canada who don't live here have visited this part of the country. |
