About me

LocationSt. Louis, Missouri
IntroductionIn the summer of 2002 Kurt Bauman had the shock of a lifetime. At the age of 35, he learned that he had Type 1 diabetes. Never an avid athlete or runner, Kurt entered his name in the lottery for the New York City marathon, and surprisingly enough, won a bib number! After 18 weeks of rigorous training, he ran with an insulin pump and food reserves, checking his glucose levels every 5 miles. The accomplishment he felt as he crossed the finish line was incredible. In that moment a mission was born. Now Kurt is committed to running 50 marathons in all 50 United States. So far, he has completed marathons in six states, with three more marathons scheduled for 2009. A motivational speaker for 6 years, Kurt’s professional expertise as a sales manager coupled with his life experience as a diabetic marathon runner make him an engaging presenter for a broad range of audiences. Drawing upon a track record of success at GE Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson and Siemens Medical, plus the rigors of running four marathons annually, Kurt can motivate anyone to achieve greatness!
