Introduction I was born to eat! As a baby, my mom gave me pickles in lieu of a pacifier (no joke!). At about age 3, I developed a taste for Mexican cuisine, and it remains "mi comida favorita." But much of my childhood, sadly, was spent suffering through variations on boiled meat and potatoes or packaged crap like Appian Way box-o-pizza or Ragu spaghetti dinners. As a result, I was a very skinny and somewhat sickly kid. At all-too-infrequent shining moments, my mom would bake homemade pies, cookies or cinnamon rolls, or, bless her heart, spend all day slaving over a big batch of pierogis. I also fondly recall evenings spent eating braunschweiger on crackers and watching the Detroit Tigers with my dad. In college, I began to eat out more, thanks in part to the underground practice of server friends "comping" friends. My palate started to bloom. I combined my newfound excitement about cuisine with my lifelong passion for writing, and today I make a living writing mostly about food, drinks and restaurants in some capacity.
Interests Food (duh), wine, cocktails, traveling, eating while traveling, hiking, reading about food, writing about food, talking about food.
