Introduction I'm a Boston University film school graduate. In the past, I have contributed numerous published film reviews for The Boston Globe. I'd currently like to use my blog to articulate and offer cinematic food-for-thought. I work in education after joining Teach for America in 2002. I've taught in various inner city communities including Los Angeles, Dallas, and San Diego.
Interests Familia y amigos = primero amor Reading, film, writing, snowboarding, working out, drinking coffee and eating bread in the morning, running around San Diego
Favorite Movies This could take a while; I'm such a fucking nerd when it comes to film that ever since I was a kid I kept track of all the films I saw during the year and then compiled my own "Best of . . ." lists. So I'm just going to list a number of my favorite films. This list is by no means definitive; it's a living, breathing document. I love almost anything by Scorsese (specifically Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Goodfellas, The King of Comedy). I also adore the following: The Wizard of Oz, Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, Donnie Darko, Gummo, Rushmore, Lone Star, Strange Days, LA Confidential, any of the Pixar films, any of the Wallace and Gromit short films, John Woo's Hong Kong films, Three Kings, Do the Right Thing, Dumb and Dumber, Limbo, Bound, The Jerk, Chop Shop, Gone Baby Gone, George Washington, Raising Victor Vargas Television 1.) "The Wire" - Without a doubt, the best show on television and possibly the greatest production in any medium. Mixes art, entertainment, and a true awareness of the socio/political/economical dynamic that exists within any urban setting between rich and poor, criminal and cop, black and white, have and have not. Also a giant middle finger aimed right at our country's failed policies/opportunities/hypocrisies. 2.) "Seinfeld" - Genius boiled down into 30 minutes of hilariously clever storytelling 3.) NFL, NBA, tennis 4.) Old school shows I used to love to watch include, but are not limited to: "In Living Color", "Picket Fences", "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", "House of Buggin'", "Friends", "Siskel and Ebert"
