| Introduction | I am a police officer in an unimportant mid-sized town in England. I've policed a few different towns and worked with a lot of different colleagues. I'm opinionated, in case you hadn't noticed, but I don't take myself as seriously as everyone thinks. My book 'Diary of an On-call Girl' came out in 2007 and is a snapshot of my life as a policewoman in 21st Century Britain. It's written as a novel, but everything in it has happened to me, although I've obviously concealed identities for reasons of legality and humiliation. I wrote it because the things I talk about need talking about. A lot. And then they need something doing about them. But that part isn't my job, although if someone were to vote me into Parliament I'd have a crack at it... |
