Introduction After teaching in the same district for 30 years, I retired in 2011. I taught many different subjects and grade levels over that time. My first six years were spent teaching all subjects to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in a multi-age classroom (grades 1-3). I moved up to the Middle School (grades 7-8), teaching all subjects to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students there for four more years. I needed a change and was able to move into a sixth grade Language Arts/ Composition position, where I remained for the next 14 years. Since this is my favorite subject to teach and my Masters degree is in C&I with a focus on the Emerging Adolescent, this was my dream job. Budget tightening required that I move into a fourth grade self-contained classroom where I taught all subjects. The advent of the new licensure assured that 1-8 certificated teachers like me would be the new utility players. I hated teaching all subjects after two years and teamed up with another fourth grade teacher and taught one math class, two reading and two language arts classes for the remainder of my teaching career.
