Introduction	Teaching, nature, science, & history: these are important parts of my life. As a mother and grandmother, I have always found ways to share my love of nature, history and reading with my own children and grandchildren.I wrote a chapter in the book Taking Inquiry Outdoors (Stenhouse 2000)exploring ways that teachers can use natural experiences to enhance writing skills. Because I live near Gettysburg, I have come to love Adams County and respect the stories of those who fought at Gettysburg in 1863.
