Introduction Paulette is a full-time studio artist creating abstract, contemporary, art pieces expanding her media to include printing on lutradur , tyvek, cheesecloth, burlap, hemp, canvas as well as commercial & hand-dyed cotton. Her photography has a strong influence on her fibre printing. Paulette moved to Vancouver Island after 35 years of High School Teaching and as a Counseling Psychologist in Calgary. She resides on Notch Hill where she is surrounded by her favorite coastal tree, Arbutus Menziesii, which is her primary focus at the moment. It has resulted in 2 series so far. The evolution from quilter to studio artist was from the influence of workshops taught by Nancy Crow which opened up the art world to Paulette. She has moved from intuitive and spontaneous machine pieced and quilted pieces to hand layering 4-6 fibre pieces using beads& buttons to separate the layers. So Texture has really become a main focus in the last 18 months. Her work has been exhibited and juried into both International and National Quilt shows and galleries.
