Introduction Randall Findlay gleefully torched his bridge to grad school after majoring in English at Carleton College and specializing in Renaissance literature, claiming "the last thing anyone in the world needs is another book about Shakespeare." Now crow is on the menu, as he considers writing just such a book, albeit one focused on film productions of Shakespeare’s plays. Mr. Findlay has seen more than 60 stage productions of the plays since 1976, the most frequent being Twelfth Night (seven productions). As an English teacher at Galileo High School in San Francisco, he designed a course in Shakespeare for native and non-native English speakers, relying on the Folger Shakespeare Library’s suggestions for using acting techniques to help students connect with the language. He has taught Shakespeare for the ivy league-bound at The Blake School in Minneapolis and currently teaches Shakespeare at St. Paul Academy and Summit School in St. Paul.
