Introduction Hi my name is Ananda and I am currently a undergraduate student at Savannah College of Art and Design for metals and jewelry. I started making jewelry because I wanted unique pieces. The joy and satisfaction of developing my thoughts into personified objects continues to inspire me to create.
Interests ARTIST STATEMENT: As a child I always loved to explore endless possibilities in imagination. I grew up adoring playtime - full of dressing up, creating works of art with my grandmother, collecting flowers and orchids with my grandfather and playing with antique toys that my father collected for me. The1980’s were abundant with symbols of: the princess fantasy toy-land filled with plastic gemstone imitations of adult jewelry. I want to recapture my memories of experiencing something wonderful for the first time and by doing so remind us of the joy of experiencing playtime without any preconceived notions of adult life. To connect the past and present, I aim to fabricate forms that have an antique aesthetic as well as a contemporary edge. I want to create adornment for the body that is playful, yet sophisticated.
