| Introduction | My name is Kayla Stewart and I currently live in Louisville, Ky. I am 23 years old and in my second year of teaching 5th grade at an elementary school in my hometown of Oldham County, Ky. I graduated from EKU in May of 2010 with a degree in Elementary Education. I have just started to pursue my Master's degree in Library Media this semester. Through this course, I hope to find texts that will help me to engage my students in learning about our multicultural society. I come from a school that is not very diverse, therefore I hope to find texts that will open the eyes of my students to the diverse perspectives that they will encounter outside of our small county. I also hope to learn strategies for meeting the developmental needs of my students through a variety of text options. |
